Bansidhe by “Rush”

Wiping the sweat off his brow, he stood over the crumpled heap of one of the largest clockwork robots he'd ever seen. "Ach, I never expected being a good guy would be this bloody hard," he said, thinking back over the events that had led to this moment.

It had been a long day. He'd found a gasket with the words 'help me' etched into the metal and, judging by the lack of wear, he figured it to have been recently inscribed. After raiding a rotting building known to be frequented by clockwork, he'd found a note with a strange address. Checking back with his contact and then seeing the Paragon City hero liaison, he took off to a sewer junction in search of the kidnap victim.

Lou was grateful for the rescue, but told the costumed vigilante that his wife and daughter were also being held. Undaunted, the rescuer went to Lou's Garage in search of clues to the wife and daughter's location, knowing that he was still attempting to atone for his past crimes.

As he walked out the door of the garage, numerous emergency personnel greeted him and offered assistance. Waving it off, he was nonetheless gripped with apprehension as a police officer approached.

"Can I get your name, sir, and account of the events that have transpired?" the police officer asked.

"Banshee. Spelled B, a, n, s, i, d, h, e," the masked man replied.

"Wait a minute! THE Banshee? The assassin wanted in Europe?" The officer reached for his sidearm and unsnapped the holster.

"Yes," Bansidhe whispered.

From nowhere, Lou appeared and threw his arms around the vigilante. "I don't care who you are or what you've done in the past. You saved me and my family today, and you'll always be a hero in my book."

The officer looked at Bansidhe and smiled, "You know, I think this report will speak volumes. Get out of here, HERO, you've got a job to do.

Bansidhe took to the air, thankful his face mask was made of cloth and could dry the tears. For the first time, he felt he'd done something good...something right.
