At Day -180 or so, Eddie and Banker and the Hunter Brothers went out to this small island on Spanner 4. Seems the good ol' boys were stalking some wild space newts and found this "salvage site". They hired Eddie to see what would be pulled out of the wreck and when he figured it might be able to fly they brought me in, leaving out a few key details (like it was in the bottom of a cave complex, buried in the rock). Oh, right, and there was that little fact that no one ever told me it was an alien ship!
After a truly unfortunate mishap (the ship took a powerful dislike to the Hunter brothers or their rail guns... I couldn't tell which), Eddie did a few minor modifications so the ship couldn't do that to me too. But given enough time I can fly anything, so after a bit of trial and error (did I mention this is an alien ship?) we got her up and out of the cavern.
We hid her out in the metallic flats just like the Hunter brothers planned and by degrees got her space worthy. Seems that some one from the spaceport was putting up quite a search about the same time of our launch. Can't really say it's connected but after our fantastic good fortune we didn't want to chance it.
We christened her "The Sorcerer" 'cuz she casts a potent spell. Neither Eddie or I really know what makes her go, but when I open her up she's faster then a deep shark so who truly cares. And so we've done a few short haul cargo hops 'til we got the Gravity working. Now on day -10, we took on our first passenger (being Jamie, who paid for 5 jumps in advance! and does the cooking too) and can really start investing in retrofitting the ship to make it a bit more comfortable.
