Run Synopsis
Mission: See Roderigo/"Pierre" to SC building, gov. dome, of his own free will.

The SC Surveillance Support Team is impressed the Our Team has set up their observation post in a room/building ideally situated across the street from Roderigo's rooms. It reports that heat scan reveals the target has stopped pacing and seems to have sat down and is writing for a lengthy period of time.

Arrangements made:

Chantal is contacted at 2AM; thus her bodyguard decides an early morning ride may be the first thing she's done yet compatible with her dossier. He does beg a cup of coffee. The third pass 'round the apt. complex, he startles her by mentioning the suspicious van that's been sitting there for 2 hours, but manages to save himself from a lapful of hot coffee nonetheless.

Target's off! Using various buildings, apparently underground tunnels, etc., Roderigo attempts to determine whether or no he's being followed. Eventually Chantal spots him coming out of the Dejah Thoris. She puts in a "Party at Dejah's" call and the team decides that the Target probably left his "writing" at the bar as a dead-man's switch of some kind. We do not collect it.

Boris, tailing, spots Gamma and Delta just ahead, getting out of a vehicle at the subway soon after Target enters. Not entirely unexpected, given that "the police" wired Boris in the relatively short period he was being questioned: they probably had Rod wired so they knew he'd left his apartment and they went to cover the places he might go. (Lyle arranged to knock out phone service from the apartment building during the operation, but apparently their alert mechanism still worked.) Lyle calls 'round the change in plan and then sprints after 'cause Boris is recognizable by the Target as well as by Gamma and Delta.

Robert is unable to keep tabs on them all in the station as Gamma and Delta split. He notes that the Target enters one of the first cars; Delta, one of the middle cars. He sticks with Delta. Lyle makes it just in time to the last car where he finds Gamma already checking it out. Apparently Gamma and Delta are in communication and are each working their way forward. Lyle decides that Robert should work his way back and help put Gamma out of action. They do the deed between cars and try to make it look like a common mugging, locking their victim in a bathroom. Lyle tries to distract Delta using Gamma's radio but neither Lyle nor Robert can speak the language that Gamma responds with (probably French).

Meanwhile Chantal has determined to provide backup and screeches into the next train stop parking. As they race for the train, John comments that this may be her most unusual attempt to lose a bodyguard and she throws back, "Who says I'm trying to lose you? Come on!" They make it into the front car just before it leaves. Boris, determined to do the same, also arrives and makes it through the forward car's second door.

Boris observes that Delta is in the back of car-one, held by the press of people (it now being rush hour). Chantal is in the forward entrance, laughing with her bodyguard. Target has just noticed Chantal and is trying not to panic. (He tries to get off, but the doors closed.) To provide a distraction, Boris goes into paparazzi mode: he calls out, "Miss Chantal!" and takes a picture. John immediately moves to intervene, throwing the cameraman towards the back of the car. Boris takes advantage of his flight to ensure that his camera comes into forcible contact with Delta's ribcage and they both go down. Chantal finds herself propelled by John (who kicks Boris in passing) through that car and the next and the next.... Lyle manages to get Robert into the bathroom before the Chevron bodyguard reaches their car.

Keeping Gamma and Delta under wraps leaves Teresa alone to trail the Target who is already spooked. She tries but loses him. She decides to head towards the SC building and make her report via white courtesy telephone.

Boris receives word to meet with the General at 1700, and is asked if there is an inexperienced female on his team. He gets to listen to Teresa's message.

Chantal waits 'til the next stop to leave the train and so spends the afternoon shopping in a ritzy area of the gov. dome. (She buys something small, nice and appropriate for John, who expresses regret at having damaged an innocent bystander. Chantal privately hopes that there was more damage done to the "innocent bystander" than to her fellow agent, and awaits news.)

Boris spends the afternoon in Sanctuary, applying for work as a miner (to keep his cover intact vis-à-vis the "police.") Everyone else heads back home to sack out.

The General is pleased, he tells Boris. Roderigo had been used to set up trips to the hidden APS base and was responsible for siping the vehicle records afterwards. Unfortunately he was good at his job and so SC must set up an expedition with him as accompaniment to search out the hidden base. Once found, the base will be commandeered by the Marines as soon as same can be dropped. The last expedition went out 2 weeks ago (about the time, we note mentally, the Dr. Lo Rat went out and the courier disappeared). (Also note: the expedition and the mining region where the doctor went are all in the same basin. There are more than one mining region on Mars, after all.)

Sam sends orders: we are to get as much info out of the hidden base as possible before it is commandeered. Exactly what information is unspecified. We consider setting up our own expedition with Miss Ishida's interest in the Lost Cities as cover. We also consider offering Miss Ishida as a cover for the StarCorps Mars expedition.

[Note: Boris' original questioning of Roderigo and the info the General got out of Roderigo do not match as to when the last expedition went out. Are Sheryl's notes in error? Or did the GM make a mistake? Or is this a Clue?]
